About

If you are pregnant or planning on being pregnant, it is crucial that you maintain your oral health to the highest of standards.

The oral cavity is intimately connected to the rest of the body. It is the entry port to our bodies and plays an important role in your overall health.

During pregnancy, many women may experience gingivitis. This can manifest as bleeding, swollen and irritated gingiva. This is not normally due to plaque or other factors, but rather, it is an increase in your body’s hormones, specifically estrogen.

When necessary, dental x-rays can be taken on pregnant patients. We use two lead aprons to minimize the already low exposure our sensors present.

According to recent articles published in the Journal of Dental Research, dental therapy, including x-rays and local anesthesia pose no teratogenic risks.
